“O dark, dark, dark, amid the blaze of noon,
Irrecoverábly dark, total eclipse
Without all hope of day!” – John Milton
The upcoming Total Solar Eclipse will be visible very soon. Make sure you have your eclipse glasses ready!
Here’s the info on key locations:
If you’re in Brisbane (specifically the GPO in in city), the eclipse will start at 11:42:11. Totality will begin at 13:16:24 and finish at 13:17:31.
If you’re on the Gold Coast (the Q1 building), the eclipse starts at 11:43:27. Totality begins at 13:16:19 and ends at 13:19:20.
Byron Bay is an excellent place to watch the eclipse. At the lighthouse, the eclipse begins at 11:44:12. Totality lasts for almost 3.5 minutes (13:16:27 – 13:19:57).
At Uluru (Kuniya carpark), the eclipse starts at 10:15:59. Totality lasts for over 3 minutes (11:45:02 – 11:48:11).
All times listed are in Australian Eastern Standard Time (UTC+10:00) except for Uluru which is Australian Central Standard Time (UTC+09:30).
Totality will not be visible in parts of Brisbane’s northside. Your best bet is to watch the eclipse on the southside (or go on a road trip to Byron Bay).
